The collection includes personal academic papers of Vincent J. Flynn and institutional records of the College of St. Thomas and St. Thomas Military Academy created while Flynn was a Professor of English at (1935-1944) and President of (1944-1956) the College and the Academy. The institutional records of the College and the Academy include papers from the Alumni Office, faculty and staff (personnel) records, papers chronicling early inter-college cooperation efforts in Minnesota, the ROTC program on campus, and North Central Association visits, plus Flynn's Presidential correspondence files. Flynn was active in numerous educational and religious groups (e.g. he was President of the State Council of Minnesota Colleges 1945-1953, Chaplain of the National Federation of Catholic College Students 1948-1950, President of the Association of American Colleges 1950, and held various offices in the National Conference of Christians and Jews). This involvement is reflected in his papers.
